Florets - Floral Quote - # 153 - by Selina Lake

'Florets - Floral Quote' is a series of blog posts where I feature quotes by authors - mostly well known - but you will also find some obscure ones.

All of them have written one or several books about flowers, gardening, interior styling or interior design. Many are experts in their field but what is most important is that they are all passionate about flowers and plants.

I love books and in my ever growing library I look for quotes that I hope will be both inspiring and useful while arranging flowers or green plants in your home.

"Walk into a home filled with houseplants and you are bound to feel instantly more relaxed. Living plants clean the air, boost the oxygen levels and enhance any room they are in by lending it a fresh, organic style. After a gradual decline in popularity since their heyday in the 1970s, when plants where the must-have home accessory, the trend for houseplants has been revived and is steadily growing in fashionable circles."

Florets - Floral Quote - # 115 - by Selina Lake

Mixed white late summer flowers in white vintage jar

"Simple and stylish. Natural Botanicals interiors feature a gentle mix of textures. Untreated woods work in harmony with white-painted furniture for a clean, calm style that gives a nod to Scandinavian interiors. Woven baskets make perfect plant holders and soft furnishing are fashioned from linen, cotton and worn leather. Plants and greenery give these neutral spaces character and interest. The colour palette is based on whites, soft greys and putty shades combined with organic greens, natural wood and touches of pure black."

Florets - Floral Quote - # 112 - by Selina Lake

"Using flowers and plants is one of the most economical and effective ways to style your home or party venue. The best vases for creating big, bold arrangements are those that are wider at the base than at the neck, which makes the flowers easier to arrange. For little posies, such as the sea lavender, Russian sage, dahlias and blackberries or stems of asparagus fern, a collection of smaller vases, bottles and jars gives a uniform look."
