Tiny Blooms - # 8 - Snowdrops

Snowdrops

This series of blog posts - called 'Tiny Blooms - are about small arrangements. Small - might be the size of the container or it could be the size of the flowers or the amount of stems in each container. It will also be that the arrangement is minimal both in presentation and that it's quick and easy to do. Apart from that there are no other strict rules - I'm allowing myself a lot of creative freedom!

Snowdrops

As my tiny bloom flower this time I have used some snowdrops from my garden. I have a few clumps that has been there for years and they just keep spreading every year.

I cut quite a few - about 45 stems - but you can't tell - there are still a lot left.

Bring a jar or glass with you into the garden - so you can pop the flowers straight into some water as you are cutting them.

Cut the stem as long as you can - so you have as much stem as possible to work with.

There is no conditioning needed and I didn't want any of the leaves - so its just to pop them straight into the bottles. Very straight forward and simple.

I put all the flowers in seven little blue glass bottles. All small in size but all a little bit different from the next.

Some are vintage ink bottles, some are medicine or poison bottles and others I have no idea what they were used for.

Its a striking contrast between the white flowers and the blue glass and the way the light is reflected through the glass. The blue and the white is also picked up in the blue ceramics and the blue and white enamelled coffee pot and soda dish.

Some beautiful tiny blooms with a lot of impact and so welcome at this time of year! Enjoy!
