Flowers for the Weekend

Playing in my "studio" with pink and white stock flowers. I bought the beautiful flowers at the local farmers market.

I also folded up a piece of floral fabric that had a similar colour to the pink stock and I stuck  it to the table top with some washi tape. A nice way of edging an unfinished piece of fabric as a temporary little table cloth.

I love the texture of the stock petals - a bit ruffled, wrinkly and veined.
Slightly imperfect but still very beautiful.

I am using a French white vintage enamelled container as a vase. The writing on it is charming and I love using really anything that holds water and that does not rust.

Condition the flowers when you get them home by cutting the ends off and putting them in water for a while before arranging them. The flowers will last a lot longer with a little care.

If you need more advise about how to take care of your cut flowers click on the tab at the top of my blog labelled FLOWER ARRANGING TIPS. There are lots to read on how to look after your cut flowers.

Have a wonderful weekend!
xoxo Ingrid

Ingrid, I always think it is so funny that such beautiful flowers could be called Stock! They are among my favorites.

Even though I am working this weekend, I've been cheered by these photos you've posted, and thank you for the info about properly caring for these cut flowers.

What colors! The washi tape tip is also very welcome. I am guessing that one might also get a variation by using some other paper/fabric and some double-faced cello tape? I will try to remember to give it go.

Happy weekend to you! xo

Gorgeous as always, Ingrid! I love these colors! This is the first year I've seen Stock available here in more than a few places. The fragrance is divine!

Hope you are well – would you believe we were in London last Monday? Flight delays at Heathrow so we jumped on the tube to visit our favorite city for the morning. Guess we had the only day of sunshine there recently. No time to contact anyone though. Next time!

Oh my dear Miss Ingrid, I'm not sure how I was able to miss this post!? I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed it...you truly are gifted not only with the flowers themselves...but with the ability to capture them in such lovely ways. Well done my dear, and thanks so much for sharing your talents with us all. :) T. xx
