YELLOW ROSE

Rosa banksiae 'Lutea' is an old favorite of mine.
I wrote about it last year. I called that post "Mellow Yellow". This year I couldn't stop myself to feature it again.
This time I cut quite a lot of branches, I snipped off all the green leaves and put the flowers in an old pewter vase.
I then mixed it with a few bits and pieces from my vintage collection and put a blue fabric with roses as background.

Well, you certainly do know how to assemble a harmonious, evocative still life. Bravo!

The yellow roses are wonderful. Leaving them without their greenery really does focus our eye on the yellow.

Pewter's sheen is another magic touch. It is subtle, and reminds me of so many Dutch masters. The reflection's a beaut.

I could take every detail and praise it, but my original sense was the harmony of the entire image.

Best wishes!
