Here is another instalment from The Flower Council of Holland's campaign about cut flowers. It's called Flower Agenda and during the weeks 36-40 it's all about the Chrysanthemums.
Here is a little bit of information and facts about Hydrangeas:
- The Chrysanthemum originate from China and Japan where it has been a much loved flower for centuries.
- The Chrysanthemum came to Europe around 1700.
- In Greek 'chrysos' means gold or golden and 'anthemon' means flower.
- The Chrysanthemum was originally yellow. It now comes in many warm colours such as golden yellow, bronze and deep orange tones.
- It also comes in many cooler colours such as white, pink, lime green and purple.
- You can buy Chrysanthemums as single flowers or as spray flowers - that has many shorter stems with smaller flowers.
- The glory days of the Chrysanthemum is the autumn, but they are available from florists all year around.
- The flowers are easy to take care of and can last for up to two weeks.
- There are many different forms of Chrysanthemums - pompom, quill, spider and spoon are just a few.
- Chrysanthemums is a symbol of longevity and happiness and was the emblem of imperial Japan for hundreds of years.
- It is the national flower of Japan, celebrated on the 9th of September, also known as the Festival of Happiness.
- Use Chrysanthemums on their own in a bouquet or mix with other flowers.
- Its a useful, versatile and reliable flower that was considered old-fashioned for a long time - but is now coming back and is increasingly popular with florists.
I hope you have enjoyed finding out information about the Chrysanthemum.
Enjoy your flower arranging and have a great floral day!
I will be back later in the week with more floral delights.

Gros bisous ♡
