The Natural Home by Stylist & Author Hans Blomquist

Hans Blomquist is a Swedish stylist & art director who lives in Paris and he is also an author having written his first book, The Natural Home, last year. It's published by Ryland Peters & Small and Debi Treloar has taken the stunning photographs.

It's a beautiful book with Hans very distinct aesthetics. The Natural Home is full of vintage treasures and antiques that has the colours of nature. Texture, patina and lots of natural materials with earthy colours.

The book features homes in France, Holland and Denmark and among those an old button factory, an old stable and a converted church.

Hans also shows his own collections of worn and faded treasured objects.

It was his chapter called Plants and Foliage that caught my eye.
Hans' style of creating flower arrangements are as distinct as all his other styling. For containers he uses simple terracotta pots with a lot of patina, old galvanized buckets and watering cans, wooden fruit crates and vintage apothecary glass jars.

The plants are all very humble, nothing too manicured or too neat and he says the foliage and flowers he uses should be as close to nature as possible.

We're talking dried cow parsley, grasses, wild flowers, bulbs and berried branches. And one of his favourites are Pelargoniums - almost every Swedish home has at least one pot on the window sill!

A very beautifully produced book with a different take on interior styling and flower arranging.

Hans says: " For me, plants and foliage are an essential element of any home: they bring an interior to life. A few simple stems or a loose bunch create the best effect."

Sometimes the best inspiration comes from the simplest things.

Have a beautiful day!

Thanks for the visit and I'll see you soon.

xoxo Ingrid
