Flowers and Ribbons - # 4 - Jars with Ribbons - Part 1

Over time you have probably noticed that I often feature beautiful ribbons. I'm part of a team of international bloggers who use ribbons from Jane Means' ribbon collection. Jane provides us with ribbons and we use them in some of our blog posts.

I'm now doing a regular series of blog posts called 'Flowers and Ribbons' where I use Jane's ribbons in combination with flowers and foliage.

This month we are taking a look at a simple way of creating stunning little flower arrangements using pretty flowers, ribbons and re-cycled jam jars as vases. Quick and easy and for very little money!

Old jam jars are perfect for making low and compact flower arrangements. Cut the stems quite short, let the flowers rest on the edge of the jars and fill the jars with as many flowers that will fit.

I have kept to a tight colour scheme using pink double tulips and pink and white ranunculus in one jar.

In the other one I have used the same pink tulips again with some pure white single tulips and and a green and white parrot tulip.

The ribbons are from Jane Means' ribbon collection - one has pink stripes and the other has pink stitching, in two different pink colours, along the edges.

The two arrangements work very well together on a coffee or side table as well as perfect side by side on a mantle piece. Or use them separately with some colour coordinated props picking up the colour in the flowers.

Have a lovely floral day!

I'll be back next month with another 'Flowers and Ribbons. Before that I'll see you later in the week.

FLOWERS by ingrid and titti - White Flowers for the Table

The theme for this weeks FLOWERS - is 'White Flowers for the Table'. I decided to do a table setting using the two key words in the theme as inspiration - white and table. So I gathered together a whole lot of different white objects, some clear glass as well as the added touches of silver and green.

The flowers I'm using are all white - roses, parrot tulips and hyacinths - even though the flowers are white there are a lot of added green in them - buds, stalks, leaves and multi-coloured petals.

I put everything out on a table just to see what it all looked like together - white napkins with little black touches, heirloom wine glasses and silver plated cutlery, some small vases, Marimekko tealight holders and IKEA plates.

An interesting mix of old and new - newly bought or handed down from older generations.

As a little finishing touch I made a very small bundle of pussy willow and tied it with some natural raffia. I placed it on the napkin next to the cutlery just as a little reminder that spring is soon here!

Below is the final table setting inspired by the theme 'White Flowers for the Table'.

Easy, quick and simple - with the tealight and the flowers pulling it all together and bringing it to life.

Enjoy your flower arranging and have a fabulous floral Friday!

Titti over on HWIT BLOGG has also created her version of 'White Flowers for the Table'. So head over to her blog and see her interpretation.

I will be back next week with more floral delights from Of Spring and Summer.

A Bunch for the Weekend - # 7 - White and Lacy

A Bunch for the Weekend - this week is all white and lacy. The mixed arrangement contains Orlaya grandiflora, white Sweet Williams, Alstromeria 'Rivale' and Gypsophila elegans 'Covent Garden'.

All the flowers are white and have a lacy effect. I used an all white jug as a vase and I have combined them with layers of white vintage lace on the table and surrounded the arrangement with some smaller vintage jugs also mostly white but all empty instead of filled with flowers - just as a nice contrast.

Wishing you a Fun and Floral Friday!

See you back here on Sunday for another floral quote.

xoxo Ingrid

Florets - Floral Quote # 48 by Jane Packer

"For me, the entrance hall is one area of my home that cries out for fresh flowers. It's the place where I welcome my guests, and I enjoy transforming it with the use of flowers. After all, first impressions count, and you never know who is going to pop round for a visit! I love using scented blooms in the hallway to greet you with their evocative perfume when you step through the front door after a long hard day. My favourites would have to be lavender, sweet peas, peonies, Paperwhite narcissus and hyacinths."

FLOWERS by ingrid & titti - White Flowers for the New Year

Hi, Titti and I are back with our second - FLOWERS by ingrid and titti. This time we thought it would be nice to do a table arrangement for New Year's Eve.

We both agreed that white flowers would be a nice idea after all the bright colours of Christmas. I found some white Hyacinths and some white tulips at my local flower stall. I then added a few long sprigs of dark green rosemary from my garden - a lovely contrast both in colour and texture.

I used two different sizes of vintage apothecary jars and a vintage fish paste jar. The common denominator is that they are all clear glass - that way you can see the lovely flower stems and they will also reflect the candle light.

The three vases sit on a vintage table mirror - a clever way of making it look like there are twice as many flowers - as well as obviously reflect even more of the candle light.

Titti and I also wanted to add a second little floral arrangement for the table. I did a mini bouquet to add to the napkin ring.

I used only foliage plants for the napkin - Buxus or boxwood that has little dark green leaves, as a contrast I used the light green variegated Pittosporum tenuifolia and for a little bit of scent some rosemary - these are all from my garden. I also added some long leaved also dark green Danae racemosa from the flower stall.

I made some napkin rings using a striped ribbon and simply tucked the little bouquet under the ribbon.

I have also added a little bit of lace tape around the votive candle holders - the candle light looks very pretty through the white lace.

Here is a link to the first FLOWERS by ingrid and titti - that we did before Christmas.

Here is a link to Titti's blog - HWIT BLOGG - so you can have a look at what floral creations she has come up with.

Have A Wonderful Floral Day!
