McQueens Festive Table Runner

Here is a short video from McQueens showing a very colourful and festive table runner that could be used for a New Years dinner table.

Caleb at McQueens creates small posies using red tulips, ranunculus, anemones, Skimmia and ivy berries. Both the little hand tied arrangements and the individual stems are put in a collection of low glass vases surrounded by candles.
Quick, easy and beautiful!

The Joy of Plants: Expose # 19: Christoffers Blommor

I hope you love this video as much as I did!

I loved the fact that it was filmed in the beautiful country of Sweden.

It features the Swedish florist Christoffer Broman and his shop in the oldest part of Stockholm as well as his house in the archipelago.

Blommor means flowers in Swedish.

His shop in Stockholm's Gamla Stan, that he opened in 2001, is legendary and as he says himself he likes to make flowers look modern but not overly trendy.

There is also a second shop in Södermalm - the southern part of Stockholm.

By some he is considered the best florist in Stockholm.....!

Here is a link to Christoffers Blommor

She also include a lot of flowers in her images!

Here is a short video introducing Linda's latest book, published in 2017. It is all about pies and called: Lomelino's Pies: A Celebration of Pies, Galettes and Tarts.

All her four books are published in Swedish and English, some also in German and French.

Floral Media - Dior Tokyo 2017 - The Show Video

This week on 'Floral Media' - I'm featuring a short video showing a Dior fashion show that took place in Tokyo - a couple of days ago. You might ask - what does fashion have to do with flowers? Well, watch and enjoy!

I'm always fascinated when I see example of how much designers, artists and craftspeople are inspired and influenced by nature - and most of the time it's mainly flowers.

I have previously shown you videos of fashion shows where both the stage and the clothes has a floral concept.
Here and here.

Azuma Makoto is also the owner of the flower shop Jardin des Fleurs in Tokyo, Japan.

I hope you enjoyed the video with these strange but stunning floral sculptures.

Thank you for visiting 'Of Spring and Summer - I will be back later in the week.

Floral Media - A Winter Gathering by The Joy Of Plants

Here are some tips and lots of inspiration for setting your table this holiday season. In this very short but phenomenally inspirational video you'll find many new and trendy ideas. It's only just over one minute long - so it won't take up a lot of your time

The video is made by 'The Joy of Plants' and this is what they say: "December is packed with celebrations: Christmas, Hanukkah and – of course - New Year’s Eve. A month full of mince pies, turkey, glasses of fizz and a few days when you let yourself recover from all the indulgence. A time when the table looks even more appealing than usual, and we stretch out on the sofa with warm blankets and cost slippers. A month of pure enjoyment, which is even easier with our December dossier."

The Joy of Plants is an initiative from the Flower Council of Holland.

I hope you'll enjoyed the short video and that you'll find lots of inspiration.

Here is a little bit about Rebecca: "Rebecca Louise Law is an Installation Artist based in East London, specialising in artworks made with natural materials, namely flora."

I hope you enjoyed this video with some rather unusual flower arrangements used in a very creative way.

Floral Media - AESME Flowers - Dawn to Dusk Video

Today on Floral Media I'm featuring a video about AESME Flowers that was founded in 2015 by the two talented and creative sisters, Ally Nutting and Jesse Lister.

In a quote they say: "Romantic wedding flowers are our speciality."

Here is the short video showing the sisters creating a beautiful floral arch. They start with writing down ideas as well as making drawings. They go foraging for the seasonal material they need and then build the arch from the branches and flowers they found adding garden flowers and fruit.

They also do styling for special projects as well as photoshoots. You can join their Christmas wreath workshops held in London and Bath.

Ally writes their blog and Jesse creates botanical artwork and photographs their flowers.

I hope you've enjoyed the short video that I found on Youtube. It was directed by Katy Lawrence and music by Jim Barne

Floral Media - Video - Make Your Own Autumn Flower Arrangement

Here is a short little video from Martha Stewart's YouTube channel. It's her Senior Garden Editor, Todd Carr showing us how to make a quick and easy autumn flower arrangement.

He is using a bunch from the supermarket and transforms them into something a bit more special. The flowers he is using are a couple of different Chrysanthemums as well as some Golden Rod also called Solidago.

Todd uses a gold coloured vase that matches the colour of the flowers. He starts with the larger Chrysanthemums and then fills in with the smaller ones and the Golden Rod.

I hope you'll enjoy this short video! Have a fabulous and floral Monday!

Thank you for visiting 'Of Spring and Summer' - I will be back later in the week with more floral delights.

Floral Media - Floral Spring Centrepiece by Sarah Raven

Here is another brilliant video by Sarah Raven where she is making a spring centerpiece using a grid to help the flowers stay in position in the bowl. It will work for a big dining table, coffee table or hall table. She gives very good instruction on how to do it in the video - so I feel there is no need for me to repeat by writing it all down in the blog post.

I love sharing these videos in case you have not seen them before - so watch the video and try to make your own!

Here is a little bit about Sarah in case you have missed my previous posts with her videos:

Sarah Raven is well known in the UK for presenting gardening programs on television, writing lots of books about gardening and plants, teaching floral workshops and flower arranging courses, giving talks and demonstrations and also for being an enormously successful business women running a plant, seed and gardening internet business.

Have a Great Floral Day and enjoy your flower arranging!

Books, Magazines and Videos

I'm back with two short little videos showing some fun floral styling.

Style director Vanessa Colyer Tay, from the Australian htf. magazine, is using bottles and jars with some very simple added craft elements and wonderful big Dahlias.

They would look great as a floral centerpiece on a dining table, grouped on small table or chest of drawers, in a windowsill or along a mantelpiece.

I hope you'll enjoy the videos and after a wonderful summer and up until today a warm and sunny early autumn - I'm back with lots of exciting floral styling, flower arranging tips, new books and magazines and other little surprises.

I have a new computer and a new camera is on the way - they both bit the dust over the summer. I also have an updated Photoshop Elements program loaded on the new computer - wish me luck as it's a lot to get to grips with all at the same time!

I'll be back soon with more beautiful flowers.

xoxo Ingrid

Lomelinos Glass

This is a beautiful and very pretty video - about a book called Lomelinos Glass - written by Linda Lomelino.

Lomelinos glass (Lomelino´s Ice cream) from Linda Lomelino on Vimeo.

Glass is Swedish for ice cream - so you've guessed it - the book is about ice cream - home-made ice cream -  and it's Linda's second book - her first was about cakes - called Lomelinos Tårtor.

All the photographs are taken by Linda and it's published by Bonniers Fakta.

Linda is one of these creative and multi-talented Swedes - she bakes, writes books, is a photographer, makes videos, plays in a band and writes the blog Call Me Cupcake.

The ice cream books is only available in Swedish at the moment - but the cake book is translated into Dutch and Finnish.

Linda is in a band called Death in the Afternoon and you can hear some of their music on the video.

Linda is on Facebook Twitter and Pinterest.

I also found some beautiful images taken by Linda - of course I love how she uses flowers to decorate her cakes - how pretty is that!

Have a wonderful week and I will see you soon.

xoxo Ingrid
