I bought this little zinc pot for 99 pence at Homebase. A big DIY store in the UK.
I wanted to add a colourful bow to to match the pretty purple Campanula flowers.
Adding a bow around a pot can be a bit tricky. It will more often than not slide down.
Especially if the surface is very smooth and shiny.
Put a little bit of double-sided tape under the ribbon and it will stay in place.
Three short pieces is enough. One at the back and one on either side of the bow.

Here is a stack of some of my favorite washi tape in beautiful colours.
Most of these are from Papermash. A great little UK based company owned by Lynne who also writes the blog Tea for Joy. Papermash is an online stationary shop that sells selectively sourced cards, washi tape, gift tags, labels, twine, doilies and note books. Lots of lovely stuff that is hard to resist!
An old medicine bottle full of old mother-of-pearl buttons.
Well, why not!!
Just for fun!
A close-up of the ribbon and the bow.
This lovely ribbon that I used is from the gift wrapping expert Jane Means .
She designs most of her ribbons herself and sells online as well as at some of the big fairs around the UK.
Jane also runs one-day gift wrapping workshops. A great lady who runs an amazing company.
All the best and have a lovely day!

I have bought washi tape from Etsy but I have to chech that Papersmash, thaks for that information. I found washi tapes last winter and I didn't believe how that normal thing like tape can be also beautiful:)
ReplyDeleteHi Ingrid,
ReplyDeleteI've been really loving your color choices lately and all the extra details to show everyone out there how there's more than placing flowers in a vase. :) It's funny, I've read some of your other comments from your last post, perhaps it's a photography thing. What I see in your work is your individuality which makes everything unique and inspiring to me. I love the tape around the pots, great ideas here! I will use that with my own. I'm really looking forward to your Easter display.
Have a wonderful week,
Rosemary...XX
Ingrid, these are great tips about how to personalize a generic container. And who would not like a little container of buttons...or even tiny shells.
ReplyDeleteAs always, thank you for the inspiration.
xo
Tie a blue ribbon ..... eller var det tie a yellow ribbon....minns inte men nåt var det. Som vanligt blir jag liksom 'knockad' av dina vackra bilder kära vän ;)
