PLAYING WITH HOPS

I have had a lot of fun played around with the Hops that is growing in my garden. It is a climber so the foxes has not managed to destroy them! The hops I am growing is the Golden hops that has the wonderful Latin name of Humulus lupulus 'Aureus'. It takes a few years to bulk up but after that it can romp away and makes a wonderful cover. It does seed everywhere but it is quite easy to pull out or move.
Here I have made a little jokey table setting where I am serving hops on a plate. The china is the very pretty Rococo made in the early 1900 at Gustafsberg in Sweden. The tablecloth is old vintage mattress ticking and the napkin is a vintage small embroidered table cloth.

*****************************

Dear Ingrid, What a fun posting and I do so admire the deep yellow-green of the hops set against the blue of the vintage china. It really is most appealing. And yes, the Latin name of the golden hop is most attractive, and very evocative.

Have a lovely and peaceful weekend.

This is lovely. Mattress ticking is so tactile, with those subtle shades woven in.

Hi Ingrid!!!

Thank you for your comment..!! Just thought I'd let yo know, as you do enjoy Francine Raymond's writing, she did say that she will possibly have one last Christmas Sale at the Kitchen Garden..she is open for 10 days usually, and it is quite lovely....If you are interested, it is probably only a couple of hours from London for you and would make a GREAT day out...She will have all the info on her website..and if you DID decide to come up this way, DO NOT MISS Wyken Hall, not far from The Kitchen Garden..another GREAT place to visit!!!!

Have a great week - terribly windy up here in Suffolk and preparing for a VERY wet day tomorrow - apparently -ah, well ... but where has the summer gone?
