This is such a cute idea. I have seen them planted sitting but I never thought of hanging them by their shoestrings.
I just bought some "hen and chicks" and want to plant them out but am afraid the groundhog will get them... Maybe this is the solution... especially if they are a very well-worn pair of very stinky shoes!
