Florets - Floral Quote - # 130 - by Jane Packer

"You don't need tons of flowers to dress a kitchen, and you certainly don't need showstopping arrangements. Instead, fill the kitchen with simple, unpretentious flowers that you can enjoy every day. The best thing about flowers in the kitchen is that they can be relaxed and informal; this is not a traditional spot for floral displays, so no-one has any expectations. This gives you lots of leeway to play with fruit and berries as well as flowers - think rosehips and chilli peppers, or a huge bowl of artichokes with their intriguing furry textures. You don't need to buy flowers - if you have a garden, bring in flowers, foliage or blossom-strewn boughs. Trailing lengths of ivy can be used to decorate a long table, while branches of apple blossom look striking in a tall vase."

Floral Media - Houseplant of the Month - Ivy

    Hedera

It's April and it's time to feature another houseplant!

The Flower Council of Holland do a campaign that they call 'Houseplant of the Month' - where they every month will highlighting a particular houseplant.

In the month of April they are featuring ivy or Hedera as Houseplant of the Month.

Houseplants are popular again and green plants are featured more and more in interior magazines and on blogs.

Urban Jungle Bloggers are very much on target with this trend where Igor Josif and Judith de Graaff are doing a great job promoting and encouraging more green plants in the home.

Florets - Floral Quote by Hans Blomquist

"For me, plants and foliage are an essential element of any home: they bring an interior to life. Even better, they absorb carbon dioxide and are very effective at purifying the air, removing pollutants and toxins such as formaldehyde. I leave my plants to grow freely - I don't like anything too manicured or too neat, preferring a random, jungly effect. Some of my favourites are scented geraniums for their wonderful perfume, Sparmannia africana for its large, light green leaves and Muechlenbeckia complexa, which grows with great vigour and has a dense tangle of dark stems. In the natural home, foliage or flowers should be as close to nature as possible: think of a long branch studded with blossom in the spring, an armful of flowering grasses in summer, and bare, leafless twigs in autumn."

    ~ Hans Blomquist ~

PS. I'll be taking a break from Florets for now. I have some new and exiting plans for a new series of blog posts - and guess what - it will involve lots of flowers!!

    Have a Lovely Floral Sunday!
