Glowing Autumn Leaves

Beautiful autumn treasures like leaves and berries can make some great ideas for decorating.
Nature is an amazing provider.
In my own garden I found quite a lot of small but beautifully coloured leaves from shrubs and small trees.
On my walk in the park I collected some of the bigger leaves from larger trees.
The dramatic orange seeds are from the flower Iris foetidissima

The small, round, clear glass candle holders are Iittala's classic Kivi candle holder designed in 1988. They hold a small round tealight or nightlight.
For the big candle I used a square clear glass vase. I would not let the candle burn down too low or the vase might crack so please be careful if you use this idea.
Arrange the leaves on the outside of the holder/vase. You will need a very, very small amount of glue to hold the leaves in position. Preferably a water soluble glue that will wash off when you are finished with the arrangement.
Tie a matching or contrasting piece of string or raffia around the middle to hold it all in place.
Depending on the size of the leaves and the look you want you can either leave the edges of the leaves at the top or cut them off. At the bottom you need to cut a straight edge to make it all stand level.
On the vase arrangement I have also used a few pieces of pink heather all tucked under the string together with Cotinus leaves.

When lit the light from the candles shining through the leaves gives off a beautiful warm glow.
As always please keep burning candles away from children and never leave a burning candle unattended.

I have crystal cocktail glasses which my mother in law gave us for christmas and we don't drink cocktails at home (usually) so I used them as candlesticks:)
