Florets - Floral Quote - # 88 - by Paula Pryke

Small red rose hips

"One of the key seasonal plants for me are rose hips. Each variety of rose produces very different hips and so there is now a vast array on offer to the flower lover. Most rose nurseries also categorize their plants for autumn seed head colour as well as for their summer blooms. Hips come in all shapes and sizes, from the size of a pea up to the size of a small tomato. They start green and then develop into an amazing array of colours, from pink, yellow and orange through to deep red.
Rose hips are the new 'must have' filler for autumn arrangements. For many years now they have been playing a support role as one of my favourite fillers for autumn bouquets and arrangements, but now they are moving into the center stage and becoming the stars of the show."
