Pink Roses in Green Glass Bottles


This series of blog posts - called 'Tiny Blooms - are about small arrangements. Small - might be the size of the container or it could be the size of the flowers or the amount of stems in each container. It will also be that the arrangement is minimal both in presentation and that it's quick and easy to do. Apart from that there are no other strict rules - I'm allowing myself a lot of creative freedom!

This time I'm featuring seven pink roses in vintage green glass bottles. I had a few roses left over from another project I was working on and thought that it would be nice to use some for my 'Tiny Blooms' series of blog posts.

There are two different kinds of roses one pure pink and the other one has a pink centre while the outer petals has a greenish tinge.

I added some green and pink colouring pencils to pick up some of the colours in the flowers and the glass.

The glass bottles are a mixture of ink bottles and apothecary bottles. They are perfect to use when you just want to use one flower stem in each container. 

I have cut the stems quite short because I wanted the flower heads to rest on the rim of the bottles.

We all love scented garden roses during the summer months - but roses are available in all kinds of colours all year around from supermarkets, florists and street flower sellers. If you look out for roses with short stems they are more reasonably priced. 

Roses also tend to last for a long, long time - if you condition the flowers, frequently change the water and keep them cool at night. 

A simple arrangement like this you can make at a very low cost, its quick and easy and it looks beautiful!

    Don't those colours sing out together, lovely green glass brings out the slight green in some of the the rose petals - I want some!!!

    Hi Ingrid, the roses are beautiful. And the one with a tinge of green is unique. Roses are so reliable and last longer too I didn't know that, roses with shorter stems are better the ones with longer stems

    Now here is an odd, or funny comment for you, Ingrid. Much as I do think those pink roses are loveley, it's actually those green glass bottles that first grabbed my attention. I think that their brilliant green sets the tone for the setting, and the sweet roses oblige by adding their own varied tones of pink.

    All in all, they make wonderful companions.

    You've done it again, dear Ingrid...shown us a new way to think about flowers we might think that we already know so well.
