Summer still lingers and autumn colours have not just yet taken over as a definite colour scheme. I have created a moodboard to inspiration an early autumn flower arrangement and table setting.
The gorgeous pink Dahlias has one foot in summer and the other in early autumn. Mixing in pink Scabiosa and purple stock in the arrangement and you have a rich and colourful combination. The not yet opened green Scabiosa and stock buds are an effective contrast to all the other pink and purple flowers.
Using hessian as a table cloth works very well at this time of year. To soften the look you can use a runner in a contrasting fabric and colour as well as lengths of ribbons - also in contrasting or matching colours. The lovely green and pink ribbon is from Jane Means. The hessian is from Russell and Chappel in Covent Garden.
A close-up of the flowers that I have used. They are large pink Dahlias, pink Scabiosa, unopened still green Scabiosa buds and dark purple Stock flowers.
The flowers are all from Grange Nurseries in Bedfordshire where they grow everything that they sell at my local Farmers Market.

I have played around with old fashioned manila tags that can be used as place cards and they can be strung with twine or ribbons. Here I have used a painted wooden clothes pegs and decorated the tags with vintage buttons. The pegs are painted with paint from Farrow and Ball.
Have a beautiful and colourful day!
